I always start with fun and joy, and then…
Joy • Fun • Loyalty • Honesty • Thoughtfulness • Courage • Excitement • Literacy • Family • Cooperation • Invention • Adventure • Collaboration • Learning • Dedication • Thrift • Hard Work • Mindfulness • Faith • Justice • Truth • Amazement • Wonder • Persistence…
Stories are like snowflakes, many faceted, unique in the moment, and their impact can be gentle as a single one on the tip of your tongue, overwhelming like a blizzard, or excellent fun for snowballs, sledding and skiing.
- Reading a book opens possibilities, exercises the imagination, teaches facts and ideas and values, and builds a lifetime love of language and communication.
- Hearing a story transports you in the moment, takes you on an adventure and brings you home safely—and perhaps changed. You have learned from the experience of others, benefited from their mistakes, and shared in their victories.
A good story brings smiles and laughter and tears. A great story reverberates and inspires.
- In education, stories engage while they educate. Storytelling captures a student’s attention, transmitting an idea or a lesson like the medicine of warm chicken soup.
- While some stories are specific—like a fairy tale to teach young people the value of honesty, others take flight and connect generations in a shared experience of amazement—as an exploding turkey spins across a frozen pond, melting ice and vanishing in a cloud of steam.
As an author and storyteller, I write and tell stories with values that reach across boundaries, for all generations.
Tell me what you like, what you need, or what values you’re seeking, I’ll gladly make a recommendation, or create something new for you. I love the challenge.
